Traditional stone-built Scottish farmhouse for holiday rental in the heart of the Highlands
Located in the Cairngorms National Park, Cluny Mains is a traditional stone-built nineteenth century farmhouse in the Highlands of Scotland.
With south-easterly views across the Spey valley and wanders into Monadliath mountains the on the doorstep, its setting will lure you out and about. Set in its own large garden the location is enviable with stunning views of the Badenoch mountains to the front and untouched countryside. Renovated to a high standard, the property retains its character whilst providing modern facilities and offering a great escape for family holidays. Five bedrooms, three bathrooms, a lounge and a relaxing drawing room offer a high level of comfort complemented by a large kitchen-diner, a utility room, seating porch and entrance vestibule. Centrally heated and beautifully furnished, each room is equipped to a high standard.

Whilst there is a front door, the most used access to the house is by the side entrance into to the large rustic farmhouse kitchen and dining area via the entrance vestibule. The vestibule is where outdoor shoes and coats are stored and also leads to the 'Dairy' (utility room) and downstairs toilet/shower-room.
The kitchen/dining room, with the kitchen section having an oil-fired AGA, and an electric oven and hob as well, allowing for plenty of cooking capacity. Well appointed with good proportions and work space, this is a jolly kitchen for everyone to gather in. The dining area houses a large substantial table with ample seating on all sides, with a TV fitted on the wall.
From the kitchen/dining area the hallway leads to the downstairs bedroom (with small double) and two large rooms at the front of the house both equiped with efficient log burners; the smart 'Drawing' room for quiet reflection and the cosy 'Lounge' with television with DVD player.
Easy rising stairs up to landing leading to large bedroom with kingsize bed, twin bedded room, bunkroom with 2 bunks (4 beds), double bedded room, bathroom and a shower-room.

Traditionally built from stone in the local Highland vernacular style, the house sits in its own large garden. The entrance driveway provides parking for several cars. This is a family friendly house and is superbly placed for outdoor activities with walking, fishing, golfing, biking, skiing and canoeing all in the vicinity. The grounds are enclosed with large areas of lawn with beech hedging to boundaries. Complimentary logs for log burners are stored adjacent to main entrance. A sheltered store is available to guests for storage of bikes and outdoor equipment under cover having several secure floor and wall mounted anchor eyelets for use with client locks.
Entertainment
Each of the the two televisions has a Chromecast attached allowing clients with Android or Apple phones or tablets to easily cast video to either television using Chromecast enabled apps such as BBC iPlayer, YouTube, Netflix, Disney+ or Amazon Prime. Also the Drawing room speaker has an audio Chromecast attached allowing audio to be cast to the speaker from mobile devices with audio streaming apps such as BBC Sounds, Spotify or Deezer. Devices need to be connected to the wi-fi network for casting to be enabled.
The TV in the lounge has easily accessible wall mounted HDMI sockets for easy connections of games console and camcorders should you wish to use them.
Bicycles - Under cover storage of up to 12 bikes is provided with securely anchored floor and wall eyelets provided for use with clients own locks/cables.
Easy access for wheelchair users is not currently available, however, with the ability to negotiate small single steps the downstairs floors is available to our elderly guests.

Weekends and Mid-week breaks
Parking is available on the gravel drive as you approach the property. It is between 10 and 15 metres from the entrance to the house.
Cluny Mains is located in the Cairngorm National in the upper reaches of the Spey valley nestled between between the Badenoch mountains to the south and the Monadhliath mountains to the north. It stands in its own grounds affording it rural privacy and enviable views across the Spey valley to the south. Walks into the Monadhliath mountains behind the house are easily accessed along farm tracks to Dalnashallag bothy and Loch Dubh beyond or along Glen Banchor to Newtonmore.
For fans of Monarch of the Glen, many of the locations used in those series remain and recognisably so.
Attractions are plenty; the Highland Folk Museum and the Clan Macpherson Museum both in Newtonmore, the Highland Wildlife Park and Ruthven Barracks in Kingussie, Working Sheepdogs in Kincraig, water sports in Loch Insh, winter sports in Aviemore or Fort William and the Landmark Forest Adventure Park in Carrbridge; all this in addition to the plethora of opportunties to play golf, go fishing, go cycling and horseriding.
Inverness is the beautiful cultural capital of the Highlands just over an hour's drive away and of course Loch Ness too.
